Project Overview

In early 2023, Breeze Management Group partnered with Nortech Communications to transform the guest experience at Mary River Holiday Park. The park faced critical connectivity challenges: no terrestrial TV, poor ADSL internet, and limited mobile reception.

We designed and implemented solutions to elevate the park’s infrastructure:

High-Speed Internet: Two Starlink systems delivering up to 400 Mbps for staff and guest use.

Smart TVs: Installed 40 TVs in guest rooms for streaming services.

VAST Satellite TV: Connected every cabin to free-to-air channels.

Improved Mobile Coverage: Deployed a Cel-Fi G41 system to enhance Telstra reception.

VOIP Phones: Replaced outdated PSTN systems for efficient communication.

Streamlined Infrastructure: Removed unused cabling for a cleaner setup.

Navigating the park’s dense greenery posed significant challenges, as satellite services require an unobstructed view of the sky. To overcome this, we mounted Starlink dishes on a 6-meter mast to rise above the tree canopy, ensuring stable connections. Strategic trenching and cable runs were carefully planned to avoid unnecessary tree removal and minimise the environmental impact. Cambium point-to-multi-point equipment distributed the internet seamlessly across the park, allowing guests to enjoy streaming platforms like Netflix and Kayo Sports.

In addition to enhancing entertainment and connectivity, the project improved operational efficiency. The modern VOIP phone system streamlined communication, while the Cel-Fi system boosted mobile coverage, ensuring reliable service for staff and guests. The removal of outdated infrastructure created a clean, efficient setup, further future-proofing the park’s technology.

Wireless Bridge WiFi Extension

At Mary River Resort, we extended the resort’s Starlink network to provide reliable internet access to the staff accommodation. Initially set up for guest areas, the network uses wireless bridges to connect detached cabins across the park. By utilising wireless bridges, we avoided the high cost and complexity of trenching or cabling, offering an efficient and cost-effective solution to extend connectivity to more remote areas.

The wireless bridge installation links the staff accommodation to the main office, where two Starlink systems provide the backbone. Cambium Networks outdoor wireless bridges were chosen for their durability and stable point-to-point connection across the resort. This setup ensured a strong, high-speed connection at the staff accommodation.

To provide further coverage within the accommodation, we installed a UniFi WiFi access point, enabling staff and visiting personnel to connect their devices. This installation demonstrates the value of combining different networking technologies, ensuring a comprehensive and reliable wireless solution across the resort.

Wireless bridges are an ideal choice for installations like this, where trenching or cabling is costly and disruptive. They connect remote buildings or areas efficiently, providing a scalable solution. With wireless bridge technology, resorts like Mary River Resort can extend their network to areas that would otherwise be difficult or expensive to reach, helping businesses reduce infrastructure costs and improve connectivity.

This installation at Mary River Resort highlights how businesses can leverage modern wireless technology to provide flexible, future-proof solutions. By using a combination of outdoor wireless bridges and indoor WiFi access points, the resort’s network remains adaptable and can easily be expanded to cover additional areas in the future.
